TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. We provide health care services throughout South Africa to both the general population and communities at increased risk for HIV and TB, including adolescent girls and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs. Purpose of the position:

To provide professional and holistic social work services by assessing the needs of TB index case, families, carers and children within TBHIV Care and implementing interventions and processes to meet these needs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) in Social Work
  • Minimum 3 years related experience with case management in TB and HIV diagnosed clients
  • SACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Professions) registration
  • Proficiency in English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa language
  • Computer literate in MS office
  • Valid driver’s licence and be willing to travel
  • Clear criminal record

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs and coordinates comprehensive psychological assessments
  • Ensures that families receive optimal care and holistic psychological support, etc.
  • Assess the needs of children and TB index case implement effective support strategies biannually
  • Effective case management for the TB index case and family members
  • Provide social services to prevent abuse and neglect
  • Network with all relevant stakeholders
  • Meet quarterly with DSD counterparts to remain updated on referral pathways
  • Assists with the identification of advocacy issues
  • Ensure all individuals legal documentation are in order
  • Conduct investigations to determine whether client/s are at risk
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Connect clients to community resources like healthcare and food assistance
  • Records and maintains accurate and detailed TB index case information
  • Maintain client records, case files
